K-9 training is one of the most important things you can do to establish and build a long-term positive relationship between you and your dog. Neverland K-9 Institute has multiple dog training programs designed to maximize the relationship between you and your dog. Get a title in Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Trick Dog Offering lessons to get you and your dog ready to take the test.

Basic Obedience with Canine Good Citizen Certification

6 week course

Covering sit, down, come, climb, free, heel, implied stay, distractions of dogs, and people. The American Kennel Club’s CGC (Canine Good Citizen) test is granted to show that your pet has manners in the community, with other dogs, and people. Lessons for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test include the importance of greeting a friendly stranger, walking through a crowd, ignoring distractions, and more. Our AKC certified evaluator will administer the AKC CGC test and certify your dog at the end of the course.

Scent Work Class

Starting in fall

6 week course

Scent Work is a sport that mimics the task of working detection dogs to locate a scent and communicate to the handler that the scent has been found Scent Work takes this amazing working relationship and turns it into a fun game that any dog can play. During the class you will be working with the Birch odor. This is the first odor used in the Novice level in AKC scent work trials.

Rally Course and Title

The AKC Rally event is a team sport: You and your dog navigate a course side-by-side, as you steer him through a course of 10-20 different signs. Each of these signs provides instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed. The dog and handler move continuously throughout the course with the dog under control at the handler’s left side. There is a clear sense of teamwork between the dog and handler both during and between the numbered signs. Rally is currently available online due to covid. We will learn one course each week and then we video it so you can submit it to the AKC.

Agility and Trick Dog Class

$200

6 week course

Getting your dog used to the equipment and teaching them more confidence in a fun way. All agility equipment is here and we will work on a few pieces of equipment each week till we have gone over them all. The American Kennel Club’s Trick Dog test is a way to teach your old dog new tricks. The CGC covers 5 tricks your dog must know for the novice level each test level is 10 tricks from kiss and high 5 to bringing you a tissue. Our AKC certified evaluator will administer the AKC Trick Dog test and certify your dog at the end of the course.

Items required at drop-off

Board and train require a $300 deposit to hold your spot that is non-refundable. Can change your drop off only to the next available date once. All vaccines must be given at least one week prior to drop off to be sure that your dog will remain healthy while staying and training with us.

Lessons and Training Sessions

In Kennel Training

2 weeks of in kennel training includes boarding, your choice of training collar, choice of a in stock climbs

Have your pet stay with us and receive daily training sessions with a professional trainer. The average stay for dogs young and old is two weeks. You will have a private lesson with the trainer at the end of the stay so the trainer can teach you how to effectively communicate and be consistent with your dog at home. We will also schedule a follow up private lesson for you to help solve any issues once you get home.

Puppy Board and Train

2 weeks of training includes boarding, your choice of training collar, choice of a in stock climbs

We are here to help you and your puppy start out right. During the 2 week period we will help your puppy learn to be a great dog. Your puppy is one of our puppies learning potty training, no biting or chewing and socializing. We are also here to start your puppy out with a good foundation of basic obedience.

Private Lessons/Competition Training

1 hour – $80 | 5 lessons – $350
1 hour private lesson or 5 lessons

In Home Lessons

1 hour – $130 | 5 sessions – $600
20 mile radius | Price increases based on distance

Have the trainer do the traveling so you don’t have to. Our trainers can provide in-home lessons within a 20-mile radius from our location, and the cost of a lesson increases in proportion to the distance traveled. Your trainer will work with you and your dog in everyday scenarios that may be giving you and your best friend problems.

About Dog Training

We teach all the dogs that come to Neverland K-9 these basic commands: Sit, Down, Loose Leash Walking, Come on command, Greeting Manners (not jumping), Waiting at doors, gates, and for meals, Training with distractions, Climb, and Free. If you are having any behavioral problems with your dog, we will also focus on those at your request during your dog’s training.

Service Dog Training

This is done and evaluated on a case by case basis. We can train a service dog for diabetic alerts, veterans, and mobility, just to name a few. We will create a customized training program for you and your dog with all the necessary skills in order to mitigate your disability. There are four parts in Service Dog training: basic obedience, advanced obedience, skills training, and public access training. Please contact us directly to get more information and an application. We are willing to help train your own dogs if it meets service dog criteria, selecting a dog already in our program.
